Awards Committee

All chapters who will be applying for awards have the opportunity to present to our Awards Committee beginning Friday, March 30th at 4pm. Here is a bit of background about the people to whom you will be presenting!

Kelly Kibbey
Awards Committee Chair
Director of Membership, Florida College Democrats

Born and raised in Fort Myers, Kelly has been serving as our Director of Membership for the 2011-2012 school year. Since then, we have implemented a statewide chartering process and restarted three chapters while establishing two new ones. Her constant contact with chapter presidents allows for a broader understanding of their work while we consider everyone’s applications. In May, Kelly will be graduating from Florida State University with degrees in Political Science and Environmental Studies.

Patrick Hynes

Patrick was born in Tallahassee, Florida.  He attended Tallahassee Community College for a year where he graduated with honors, before attending the University of Central Florida where he is now a graduating Senior expecting a B.S. in Computer Science with a Mathematics Minor.  Since becoming a student at UCF, he has been an active member of the College Democrats at UCF, traveling as far as Virginia to campaign door to door.  He served as Sargent at Arms for the College Democrats at UCF 2010-11, and has been a great friend to the Florida College Democrats.

Rachel McGovern

A sophomore at the University of Florida, Rachel has been involved with the University of Florida College Democrats since her freshman year. She has served as Publicity Director for the UF College Democrats and as Women’s Caucus Co-Chair for the 2011-2012 school year. Her involvement with the College Democrats has spread across the state and she has met and worked with people in several different chapters.

Savanah Goodland

Savanah is a senior at the University of South Florida and the current Vice President of the College Democrats chapter there. She has been an active member of College Democrats for the last 3 years. Prior to serving as the vice president, she served as the Vice Vice President, an honorary title that encompassed a number of tasks, such as event coordination and assisting other positions within her chapter. Savanah has attended a number of conferences on behalf of USF at both the state and national levels with other College Democrats from chapters nationwide.

Special Guest Beth Clayton

Beth was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and is currently a Senior at Auburn University majoring in Public Relations.  She serves as the President of the Alabama College Democrats and, last August, was appointed the Southeast Regional Director for CDA.  She became involved with College Democrats her Sophomore year at Auburn, serving as chapter President in 2011, and quickly became more involved over the next few years as students established the state federation.  Last year at CDA’s Summer Convention, Beth served on the Awards Committee and was named one of CDA’s Rising Stars.
